Bone Cement Implantation syndrome (BCIS) is an important cause of mortality and morbidity in patients undergoing cement implantation.

There are three grades of BCIS
- Grade 1: moderate hypotension or hypoxia
- Grade 2: severe hypotension or hypoxia or unexpected LOC
- Grade 3: cardiovascular collapse requiring CPR
